Testing, certificates and periodic inspections

A lightning protection system is only as good as the measurements that prove it. We issue certificates at commissioning, after changes to the building and at the mandatory periodic inspections – for our own installations and for those built by others.

What we measure

  • Earth electrode resistance (fall-of-potential and clamp methods)
  • Continuity of the air-termination system, down-conductors and protective conductors
  • Earth fault loop impedance and equipotential bonding
  • Condition of the SPD modules and of the connections at the test joints
  • Visual inspection for corrosion, mechanical damage and changes to the roof

Documents you receive

  • Test certificate with the results and a statement of compliance
  • Installation record (for new installations)
  • Remedial instructions for any non-conformities found
  • A reminder when the next inspection is due, according to the site category

Maintenance contracts

For commercial buildings, hotels and solar parks we offer a maintenance contract: scheduled periodic inspections, replacement of SPD modules, extra inspections after severe storms and full record-keeping on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions

When is an inspection mandatory?
At commissioning, after repairs or changes to the roof, after a known lightning strike and periodically according to the site category. The interval is set by Ordinance No. 4 and EN 62305 – usually every 1 to 4 years.
Do you test installations you did not build?
Yes. Many of the inspections we carry out are on existing installations – for a change of ownership, for an insurer, for an acceptance committee or simply for peace of mind.
