Conventional lightning protection (Faraday cage / mesh)
A mesh of air-termination conductors and rods on the roof, connected by down-conductors to an earth electrode. The most reliable and predictable solution for flat roofs, industrial halls and large buildings. Designed using the rolling sphere and mesh methods in accordance with EN 62305-3.
Early streamer emission (ESE) air terminals
A single active air terminal on a mast covers a radius of tens of metres. Suitable for houses, villas, buildings with complex roofs and open areas where a mesh would be expensive or unsightly. Installed to NF C 17-102 and Ordinance No. 4.
What the installation includes
- Risk assessment and determination of the lightning protection class (I–IV)
- Air-termination system – rods, mesh or ESE air terminal on a mast
- Down-conductors – concealed or exposed, with test joints
- Earth electrode – ring, radial or deep-driven, depending on the soil
- Equipotential bonding and connection to the building's main earthing terminal
- Test certificate and installation record
Suitable for
- Detached houses and villas, especially in open and mountainous areas
- Apartment blocks and buildings with rooftop photovoltaics
- Warehouses, production halls, agricultural buildings
- Schools, kindergartens, hotels, public buildings
