- Foundation earth electrode – built into the foundation reinforcement of new buildings (the longest-lasting option)
- Ring earth electrode – galvanised steel or copper strip around the building
- Deep-driven rod electrodes – where space is limited or the soil is poor
- Radial electrodes – for open areas, poles and equipment
Repair and improvement of existing earthing
Old electrodes corrode, joints loosen and the measured resistance gradually rises above the permitted value. We assess the condition by measurement, locate the problem and put it right – by adding electrodes, replacing connections, treating the soil or installing a new ring electrode.

Frequently asked questions
What resistance should the earth electrode have?
It depends on the purpose. For lightning protection the usual target is below 10 Ω, while some installations (substations, sensitive electronics) require much lower values. The exact figure is set by the design and the standards. After installation we prove it by measurement.
How often should the earthing be tested?
Periodic inspection is mandatory. The frequency depends on the site category and lightning protection class – under EN 62305 a complete inspection is carried out every 2 to 4 years and a visual inspection every 1 to 2 years. We keep track of the schedule and remind you when the next one is due.
